The Development and Operations Engineer is working on Thirona’s infrastructure, system administration, security and release engineering. In alignment with Software Development and Deep Learning teams, as well as Image Analysis Service team, the Operations Engineer ensures the hybrid infrastructure is correctly provisioned and managed, guaranteeing a high uptime to our customers and other Thirona departments. Furthermore, as Thirona is ISO 13485 and ISO 27001 certified, the Operations Engineer ensures a highly secure infrastructure and software. As such, the Operations Engineer collaborates with the Security Officer on security incidents and other quality related activities and is involved in the development and release process of several departments to streamline the release and deployment process. Lastly, the Operations Engineer is involved in system administration, with tasks such as provisioning and managing on-premise and cloud servers, security monitoring, system updates and managing the internal and external network.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Drive Thirona’s infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Put security high on your list and want to keep all systems safe and secure
  • Work with AWS cloud and an on-premise servers to manage and provision our inference infrastructure
  • Build and set up infrastructure and new development tools
  • Follow-up on information security and quality management related activities, such as security incident

Profile & Competences:

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience
  • Knowledge of cloud service providers (preferably AWS)
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Background in operations engineering and experience with DevOps tools
  • Good understanding of system administration in Linux
  • Knowledge on Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Windows (Server) is a pre
  • Attention for detail with a drive to continuously improve
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player and able to positively influence others

Practical information:

  • In total, Thirona has +/- 50 employees with international backgrounds
  • Office location: Nijmegen
  • The candidate must be either living in the Netherlands or willing to move to the Netherlands
  • 32-40 hours work week – hybrid working is allowed for 2 days per week
  • Part-time can be considered
  • Principal residence within 1 hour travel distance from the office
  • 25 vacation days based on a 40 hours contract and 8% holiday allowance
  • 8% pension allowance with a flexible pension plan
