Our Product Development Team is at the heart of Thirona’s innovation roadmap to deliver AI assisted medical image analysis. As such, the team translates customer requirements into deep learning research tracks to deliver robust and high performing algorithms. Deep Learning Engineers bring technical expertise and continuously challenge on development practices to deliver great quality to our customers.

In this role you will (not an exhaustive list) 

  • Design and develop new features within Thirona algorithms by:
    - Discussing product requirements and coming up with solutions to fulfill them
    - Designing, performing and documenting deep learning experiments
    - Discussing the design with other deep learning engineers and senior deep learning engineers to come up with the best overall design
    - Implementing the chosen design 
  • Own the development process from customer order to algorithm for allocated projects by:
    - Collecting relevant data
    - Annotating the data
    -
    Training the defined models
    - Testing of the models
    - Contributing to integration of production-ready models into our C++ codebase 
  • Document developed algorithms in accordance with Thirona quality standards 
  • Transfer developed algorithms to Software Development or, if applicable, to the Image Analysis Team 


                          Profile & Competences 

                          • Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or equivalent degree 
                          • Experience with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning 
                          • Highly skilled in programming (preferably using python) 
                          • Innovative, analytical approach to solving complex research problems and performing troubleshooting 
                          • Customer-oriented mindset, both towards internal and external customers 
                          • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to explain the impact of technical changes to less technical users 
                          • Good organizational skills; the ability to work in a collaborative environment 
                          • Flexible, strong ability to work in fast-paced environment 
                          • Drive to continuously improve

                                          • Thirona consists of +/-50 employees with international backgrounds 
                                          • Office location: Nijmegen 
                                          • EU passport is required for this job position   
                                          • The candidate must be either living in the Netherlands or willing to move to the Netherlands 
                                          • 32-40 hours work week – hybrid working for 60% 
                                          • Flexible start and end time 
                                          • Temporary remote work 
                                          • 25 vacation days based on a 40-hour contract, and 8% holiday allowance 
                                          • 8% pension allowance with a flexible pension plan
