Amazon Web Services supports Thirona’s innovation in diagnostic research

Already for the second time, Amazon Web Services has granted Thirona AWS Promotional Credit under the AWS Diagnostic Development Initiative (DDI) Program.

DDI is aimed at accelerating research and innovation to advance the collective understanding and detection of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in order to mitigate current and future outbreaks. Previously, Thirona has received DDI support to develop algorithms based on machine learning technology to automatically analyze Chest X-rays (CXRs) and CT scans for COVID-19 signs. Since the launch of our CAD4COVID(TM) solution, it has been used in over 120 hospitals worldwide as of May 2021.

The additional server capacity granted again by AWS will substantially contribute to further expansion of our existing software packages by adding new deep learning modules. Thirona’s current products and services include LungQTM for quantitative analysis of thoracic CT images for conditions such as COPD, asthma, and cystic fibrosis. These software packages aim for early detection and diagnosis aiding early intervention. However, as such packages are gaining more traction in the healthcare domain, the need for scalable options and processing power arises to host and continuously develop the algorithms. More server capacity will enable us to bring more innovative solutions to the hospitals faster, while maintaining our high level of services.
