NLAIC Matchmaking for AI Startups in Healthcare
On November 24th the matchmaking in healthcare event took place, organized by the Netherlands AI coalition. Many parties from the ecosystem working for AI in healthcare came together: startups, SMEs, researchers, healthcare professionals, funders and policymakers.
Our CEO Eva van Rikxoort and Special Envoy at Techleap Constantijn van Oranje-Nassau zoomed in on the need to accelerate impactful AI innovations. They discussed barriers and possibilities in the industry for the faster scaling up of startups in the Netherlands. One of the concrete actions defined as a result of the discussions was that we need to set up a “MDR-innovation platform” together with experienced startups, so that this hurdle can be taken faster and better by Dutch AI innovators.
Many other representatives from companies like Microsoft, Philips took part in the discussion, as well as co-innovation project initiatives and startups. Amongst other examples brought up were:
- Make data from healthcare institutions securely available to startups and scaleups. Don’t talk too much about it, just do it!
- Really work on a learning system in the Netherlands, so that the wheel is not reinvented multiple times
- At the same time scrutinize the investment models
Great matchmaking took place during this gathering and hopefully will lead to new fruitful collaborations and taking collective action.
